How to Design Sell Sheets
Your sell sheet is in essence your salesperson. These sheets are usually handed out at trade shows, including in packaging as an up sell or product information packet, as well as being very popular in the real estate business. Once the customer has left your presence, this is the one item they will have to refer back to that will decide on whether or not they are going to buy the product, so they must be designed properly.
Information - the first step is to gather all relevant information that may be used on the sell sheet. Once you have all of the information, prioritize images and content that will be used on the sell sheet. Use images that will both lure in the reader as well as working with the content to help further describe the product or service being presented.
Content Creation - as in anything with a written word, content is king. It all starts with the header of the sell sheet. If the sell sheet is being used as a product information sheet, the product name is the obvious choice, but not all sell sheets will be this easy. The headline needs to grab the readers' attention and draw them in.
The content should easily flow from this point forward using bullet points to offer information on each sub header. For instance, a realtor may choose a sub header that says, "Five Bedrooms." The bullet points can then break down the features and measurements of each bedroom.
Flow - the sell sheet needs to be easy to follow and read. Do not use obtuse terms (if you are looking up the word obtuse, you now know exactly to what we are referring ) to describe the product or service. All content and graphics should easily flow from section to section.
Contact Information - all contact information should be present at the bottom of the sell sheet. Contact name, address, email, phone, and website are all standard. If possible, consider putting a QR code on the sheet as well that can direct them right to the product page on the website.
